Kory couldn’t stop herself from laughing a little.

"Don’t take this the wrong way but you’re adorable. There’s an odd and really…fun innocence to you. I can’t believe you’re the same person who beat those men in the alley way and I’m glad you found me. So even if we don’t find…

"You don’t have to thank me, really. I was happy to do it." Kory munched away at her breakfast and made sure that there was enough for seconds if either of them wanted them. She had a plan for what she was going to do after breakfast while they were still home. She needed to pack a bag with things to take notes so she could write down whatever they found out about her friend, her medication because she didn’t want to come home until they had looked as long and as hard as they could that day, and she was going to slip a few throwing knives into the bag as well.

As safe as she knew she would be with her friend beside her, she didn’t want her to have to fight, not if Kory could defend them herself. Although she hoped that there wouldn’t be a need for the small weapons, it wouldn’t hurt her to be prepared. Just the opposite-the day she had decided not to bring a weapon was the day that she had met her new friend. She wasn’t willing to put either of them at risk.

Also she was going to have to rummage through her clothes to find a jacket or a hoodie that would be comfortable for her friend to wear so that people wouldn’t just stare at her. If she could cover her most distinctive features then no one would really look twice at them.

Lan Fan nodded and continued to eat in silence, thinking about the other’s words. Of course, even though the other didn’t really want any thanks, the chimera still wanted to find some way to thank her. Of course, she didn’t really know how to do so, but she wanted to try and do something regardless.

As she continued eating, she noticed the other going to search for something. Of course, she didn’t really know what was going on, but she would leave the other be for the time being, regardless.

Once she was finished eating, she straightened up and looked around for the other girl, wondering where she was. Of course, it didn’t take long to find where she went, as she could feel the girl’s presence nearby. Making her way over to her slowly, she looked around for a few moments, before glancing at her new friend.

"R-Ready…"

I can’t believe you’re the same person who beat those men in the alley way and I’m glad you found me. So even if we don’t find any information about you or who you used to be, I’ll still be here for you." She smiled at the girl.

"Oh and I made these for you to go with the fork."

Kory pulled out a box that was a complete cutlery set that matched the thickness of the fork she was using now.

"I figured this would be a lot easier for you to use. I’ve never had a chance to use my alchemy to help someone before." The grin on her face was huge and she looked immensly proud of herself.

Lan Fan’s ears flattened slightly, and she ducked her head in embarrassment. She then sighed slightly, and shook her head. It wasn’t really something that she could put into words, but when someone was in trouble, it felt almost as if she forgot just how scared she could be at times.

It was almost as if she was a completely different person when someone else was in trouble.

Looking up as she heard the other girl place something on the table, the chimera frowned slightly, before tilting her head slightly. She then reached out and touched the cutlery slightly.

"Thank… You…" She murmured, giving the other a hesitant smile.

The warrior took a deep breath, gritting her teeth for a few moments. She was hesitant to trust him, and with good reason as well. He hadn’t really proven himself to be overly trustworthy, after all…

Still, if she could keep Edward safer, then she would do so.

"I… I told him to watch his back." She answered simply, making sure to keep herself concealed, and her muscles braced to run. There was no way that she would say any more than she needed to, as the more she talked, the more she would give herself away.

It wasn’t anything he didn’t already know… But she had a feeling that he would realize that the situation was more serious than before.

Even that, he fears, is too much. And he wonders how much she really told him. Surely that could not possibly be all of it. She knew so much more than she was letting on, and he didn’t believe a word of it.

image

“Really now? That is all you’ve told him?” He wants to keep her talking, every word, every echo leads him closer to its source. “You aren’t keeping him safe by lying-“ Its only natural for him to immediately assume mistrust. She has no reason to be honest with him, so in turn, he feels no obligation in returning that favor.

“Though, Fullmetal has more pressing things to worry about than whos watching him. I’m sure he must not think too much of it…” He begins, turning on his heel to try to locate the voice.

“Come with me, and I’ll ensure his, and your, safety.”

Lan Fan gritted her teeth, remaining silent for a few moments. She was reluctant to continue speaking, but she didn’t really have much of a choice now… She could tell, just by the sound of his voice, that he was getting closer to her. Even if she tried to run, she knew that she would be spotted quite easily. She could use a flash bomb again, but she was trying to be sparing with them, as well…

Truthfully, she was quite conflicted of what to do.

"…I can’t say that I’m inclined to believe you. You aren’t exactly the most trustworthy person I’ve met." She commented in return, slowly edging towards the nearest corner, staying close to the ground in order to keep herself from being easily seen.

"Prove to me that I can trust your words, and I may consider it." She added, her voice hard as she spoke to him.

Kory climbed onto the couch, thinking about going to bed but she was in far too much pain. The stress from being harassed in the alley and the pain it caused, not to mention cooking dinner and the pain from her physical therapy exercises had…

Kory noticed her hesitancy and placed a fork with huge tines on the table and a thicker than average handle.

”This should work for you,” she smiled. “And after you and I eat, we can go out and find some clues to who you are.” She smiled.

The female looked up as the fork was placed in front of her. She then hesitantly tried to grab it, managing to pick it up. She then speared a piece of meat with a little difficulty, before taking a bite of it.

"O-Okay…" She mumbled, in between bites of food. Finding out more about herself would make her quite happy… Maybe she could find her old friends…

"Morning," Kory said pleasantly when she saw her guest round the corner. "I hope you like hearty breakfasts," she filled a plate to the brim with food and sat it at the table. This time she didn’t put down any silverware and happily filled her own plate, in a bright mood for some reason.

Lan Fan stared at the girl for a few moments, watching her fill the plate with food. Her stomach grumbled loudly, her ears perked, and her pupils dilated with visible interest. She then crept forward as the plate was set on the table, before sitting down.

Hesitantly, she reached out to try and pick up her food. It wouldn’t be polite for her to just pick up the plate and eat that way… So she had to try and maintain some sort of decency, especially if she was to go out in public…

Lan Fan closed her eyes, waiting silently as she listened to the man’s words. She bit her lip, trying to think rationally when she was given her options. The warrior knew that, no matter what choice she made, someone would be in danger… But one choice was better than the other, in it’s own way.

If she gave up, then her friends would be relatively safe, while her own future would be quite uncertain. And if she remained hidden, she would only be safe for a short while. Her friends would be in danger, and she would need to live on the run, in order to avoid the search party…

"If I am to stop hiding…" The warrior started, knowing that the echoes would conceal her exact location.

"…If I am to stop hiding… Will he be left alone?" She asked finally, waiting for his reply. Of course, she remained crouched, ready to either exit her hiding spot, or flee if she needed to.

Of course, there was a high chance that she would be caught regardless… But if one choice was better than the other, then that would influence her final choice.

Her voice echoes off the walls around them, and he doesn’t bother trying to locate its source. He keeps a head bowed, eyes closed so he can focus on the sounds.

“mmm…” He’s reluctant to make a promise, especially one he’s not sure he will keep. Though lying would not be such a disgrace to him—if need be. His eyebrows furrow, drafting out a response in his head.

“Well now… that depends—” He begins, stepping forward as ears prick in certain directions.

”How much did you tell him?”

Kory woke early, like she always did and clambered sleepily into her chair to wheel herself to her room and grab all of her medication. She was not a morning person and ate a piece of toast so that she had some food in her stomach so she could take her medication.

She went into the kitchen and made a big hot breakfast for her guest:bacon, sausage, and biscuits, something that would really fill her up. She hoped the smell would wake her friend happily and comfortably.

When the morning finally came, Lan Fan yawned and stretched slightly, before raising her head and sniffing the air intently. She could smell the scent of meat in the air, and heard her stomach growl. Her mouth started to water uncontrollably, and she slowly crawled from the bed.

Upon reaching the kitchen, she then peered around the corner again, watching as the other girl cooked the meat. Was that all meant for her? Surely it couldn’t be, but she couldn’t help but hope…

My muse just did something stupid that almost got them killed. Yell at them.
